first off, let me just tell you that the book is freaaaking awesomemazing thrilling exciting and bloody. at first, i thought it was some sort of book about card games when i first heard of the title. then this friend of my friend who also became my friend talked to me about this wonderful piece of amazing. she told me The Hunger Games Trilogy was derived from Koushon Takami’s *waitforit* BATTLE ROYALE. i actually liked it more than the hunger games. maybe because i hated hunger games for not having katniss and gale end up together</3 or whatever.

Now, once again, "2 students remaining." But of course they're part of you now.
Now, once again, “2 students remaining.”
But of course they’re part of you now.

Koushun Takami’s notorious high-octane thriller is based on an irresistible premise: a class of junior high school students is taken to a deserted island, where as part of a ruthless authoritarian program, they are provided with weapons and forced to kill one another until only one survivor  is left standing. (taken from the description at the back of the book )

lines i loved:

You must know this Shuya… but loving someone always require you to not love others. (Shogo)

Well, the good aren’t always saved, and  this game is no exception. it can be the irresponsible ones that end up making it. (Shogo)

…I respect anyone who stands by their conscience, even at the risk of failing and being rejected by everyone. (Shogo)

You’ll end up becoming jaded at this rate. It’s not a bad thing to love someone and be loved by someone. (i forgot who’s grandfather it was who said this)

I really thought this was sweet:

Yutaka smiled a little again and said,

“When she looked drowsy  and rested her cheeks on her hands, she was pretty.”

And then he continued,

“When she was watering flowers by the classroom window, the way she touched the leaves, she was pretty.”

“When she dropped the baton at the annual field day and burst into tears afterwards, she was pretty.”

“When she was hanging out with her friends during our breaks, listening to Yuka Nakagawa, holding her stomach as she burst out laughing, she was pretty.”

this part is ughh ❤

“If I were Keiko, this is what I’d say.” … ” Please live. Talk, think act. And sometimes listen to music…”

She stopped, then she continued,

“Look at paintings at times to be moved. Laugh a lot, and at times, cry. And if you find a wonderful girl, then you go for her and love her.”

“Because that’s the Shogo that I really loved”

–sigggghhh really you should read this you guysss :’)
